Prince Edward County 2012 – Lighthall Vineyards – Chardonnay 2009

And now for the second wine review from Lighthall Vineyards:
Chardonnay 2009
Their 2009 Chardonnay spent two months in barrels before being bottled. It is a very pale yellow and its nose reveals aromas of citrus, a little butter, a promising minerality, and a trace of vanilla/smoke in the background.
In the mouth, there is a lively acidity and flavors of green apples and grapefruit and the nice minerality already seen in the nose, ending in a medium length final in citrus. This reminded more of more of Chablis than New World.
In short, a very nice wine.
It may be of interest to note that Huff Estates Winery (also from the “County”) had a very good “Lighthall Chardonnay” some years ago – this is the same vineyard with a new owner and another nice product.
Et maintenant, voici l’évaluation du second vin de chez Lighthall Vineyards:
Chardonnay 2009
Leur Chardonnay 2009 a passé deux mois en fût avant d’être embouteillé. Il est d’un jaune très pâle et sont nez nous révèle des agrûmes, un peu de beurre, un côté minéral prometteur et une trace de vanille/fumée en arrière plan.
En bouche, on trouve une acidité vive et des saveurs de pommes vertes et de pamplemousse et une très belle minéralité, se terminant en un finale de longueur moyenne en agrûmes. Le style rappele plus Chablis que le nouveau monde.
En somme, un très beau vin.
Pour les intéressés, Huff Estates Winery (aussi du “County”) avait un très bon “Lighthall Chardonnay” il y a quelques années – il s’agit ici du même vignoble avec nouveau propriétaire, et d’un autre beau produit.
